| Jakefest Inc. is a tax exempt nonprofit corporation.
It consists of a team of eight board members and six committee heads. This team gathers ideas and sets plans in motion for each fundraiser. All workers for each fundraiser are volunteers from the surrounding communities: Redgranite, Wautoma, Berlin, Pearl Lake, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, Appleton, and others. Our first fundraiser, Jakefest 2007, generated over Twenty-Three Thousand dollars. After satisfying our creditors, Nine-Thousand dollars was left for donations to various charities and Five-Thousand dollars was placed in an account to kick off Jakefest 2008.
Out of the Nine-Thousand dollars, Five-Thousand Dollars was donated to supplement the Redgranite Dive Team. One-Thousand Dollars was donated to the Redgranite Library. Five-Hundred Dollars was donated to the Redgranite Elementary School. One-Thousand Dollars was donated to the Reetz family of Neshkoro to help with expenses from their son's illness. One-Thousand Dollars was put into a scholarship in Jake's name for Crossroads Academy in Wautoma. Finally Five-Hundred Dollars put together for a music scholarship in Jake's name. We also held a Halloween Costume Party fundraiser this year. Almost Five-Hundred dollars was raised. This helped a homeless young couple with a seven month old baby get an apartment, food, and a Christmas tree two weeks before Christmas. In the following year we hope Jakefest 2008 far exceeds our hopes just as the first one did. We are aiming for large raffle prizes from surrounding businesses that will generate more ticket sales and promote advertising for these companies as well. It's our wish to extend our donations into the surrounding communities who so willingly show their support.
